What will I learn? 

Your study will be based on real business practice and not just the theory. Case studies will be used to give you an in-depth understanding of how the different parts of an organisation support one another. As you progress through year two and your final year, you will develop your ability to research independently and understand how your growing specialisation can enhance your learning and future career.

How will this course be taught? 

Your course will be based on a series of lectures, with associated seminars and workshop practical classes. In addition, your personal tutor will review and discuss your progress with you and will be available for advice.

How will I be assessed? 

An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed is as follows:

  • formal examinations 40%;
  • coursework, tests, essays 30%;
  • practical or project work 10%;
  • group work etc.10%;
  • presentations, posters etc.10%.

Teaching contact hours 

In a typical week you will have up to 14 contact hours of teaching and this will break down as:

Personal tutorial/small group teaching: 1 hour tutorial on a regular basis;

Medium-group teaching: 5 hours of workshops or seminars each week;

Large-group teaching: 8 hours of lectures each week;

Personal study: 25 hours of study and revising in your own time each week.

This is a flexible business course, which allows you to tailor a programme of study to suit your particular skills and interests, to prepare you for the role you can play in contributing to businesses during your career.

You will be taught by academics with expertise in all the business disciplines. They are engaged in research with companies and are therefore up-to-date with relevant knowledge in their teaching. Furthermore, many of our lecturers are industry experts, and previously, external industry experts have given guest lectures. This provides an opportunity to make business contacts, decide on career interests, and even help identify job prospects.

How much does it cost?

Full-time Home and EU: £9,250

Included in the fees:

  • Specified core reading material;
  • Any mandatory UK residential field trips;
  • Any mandatory UK site visits and trips; 1,000 sides of black and white laser prints;
  • Tuition fee waiver for placement and study abroad year.

Additional costs not included in the fees:

  • Any optional overseas field trips or visits: £400+ per trip.
