About the course

An ideal course if you already work or volunteer in a primary, nursery or special school (e.g. as a nursery nurse, teaching assistant, instructor, sports coach or classroom volunteer) and want a career in teaching.

Designed so you can work while studying with evening part-time study available at four locations (Luton, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Peterborough) and a day option at the Putteridge Bury site in Luton, all of which are delivered mainly during the school year.

This course helps you link academic theory with your experience and successful completion will qualify you to apply for Qualifying to Teach courses at Primary and Early Years level.

This part-time course can be completed while in a work based setting and is the only course locally offering this means of degree study for working students. It is delivered either by evening sessions at all sites or a day session at Putteridge Bury. You can gain an Honours degree in four years, although your study can be spread over a longer period.

The purpose of assessment is to provide formative feedback to you, to monitor your performance and to measure your attainment. In addition, it aims to enable you to demonstrate that you have fulfilled the objectives of each unit as well as the profession as a whole.

The ability to present to others is an important skill in teaching and one that you will be supported in developing throughout the course.
