About the course

Get hands-on experience of events management with this practical and exciting events management degree. Take the theory learnt in the classroom and immediately apply it to real-life events which you will develop, organise and deliver yourself - helping to ensure that you leave Southampton Solent University with a CV you can be proud of.

During the course, students are given the opportunity to develop, run and manage events. This allows them to try a range of industry roles and find out where they feel they thrive the most.

The course team’s extensive links with industry have also enabled students to gain an insight into both event agencies and music festivals (Isle of Wight Festival, Blissfields). This exposure to commercial events, industry events, and active event management practitioners is critical in providing a deeper insight into the industry.

Solent Works, the University’s student run events agency, gives students the opportunity to be part of a growing business, delivering projects on behalf of real clients. Students who choose to get involved develop and practise a range of valuable skills including working to specified brief and managing client relationships.

With work experience opportunities, guest lectures and industry visits all offered as part of this valuable three year degree, Southampton Solent University’s events management programme will help prepare you to seamlessly transition into employment.



 


What does this course lead to?

Students have gone on to various jobs within the industry including event organiser and fundraiser at a national charity, director of a marquees and events company, events manager at a local hotel, events assistant at Senate Grand Prix racing, manager/owner of a local nightclub, events co-ordinator at JUMP and events manager at Revolution.


Who is this course for?

A degree in events management is the ideal way for those who are new to the world of event management to learn the industry from the ground up. Students will graduate having developed a portfolio of professional events and a range of transferable business skills.

Fees and costs

The tuition fees for the 2018/19 academic year are:

  • UK, EU and Channel Island full-time fees: £9,250 per year
  • UK, EU and Channel Island placement year fees: £1,385
