About the course

Think you’d like to work in the exciting world of advertising? With a strong focus on advertising and its related disciplines, this marketing degree will provide you with practical and in-depth exposure to the skills and working practices of modern advertising professionals. These skills will be supported by a comprehensive grounding in business, marketing and management; which you will then be able to apply in a range of professional industries.

Developed in collaboration with industry professionals, this marketing with advertising management programme focuses on practical skills and hands-on experience of common industry scenarios. Assisted by the course team, students are encouraged to seek work experience and live brief opportunities throughout the curriculum.

Past students have benefitted greatly from these live client briefs and commissioned projects, experiencing what it is like to work to a client’s requirements while still utilising their knowledge of creative and professional best practise. Businesses that have previously been involved with the course include FitSkool, GoPhysio and Dorset Goodness.

As well as developing an advertising specific skillset, students will also learn essential business and marketing skills. These transferable skills are sought after in a range of industries, ensuring that students are able to pursue a variety of opportunities after graduation.

Students are also given the opportunity to pursue professional qualifications. These include CIM, PRINCE2, Google Analytics and CAM Foundation awards. These industry-focused qualifications are well respected by employers, and Southampton Solent University is the only university in the South East to offer this level of professional qualification alongside a marketing degree. 



 


What does this course lead to?

Our graduates have gone on to work in marketing roles for a diverse range of organisations, from Thai Airways to Topman. On graduating you will have the practical skills and experience for a career in accounts or creative, PR, market research and more. 


Who is this course for?

This marketing and advertising programme is ideal for students who aspire to careers in marketing, PR, brand management, advertising, creative direction account management or online promotion.

Candidates come from a range of academic and creative backgrounds, but must be passionate about creative communication.
