More about this course
The course’s integrated foundation year will ensure you’re well-equipped as you enter Year 1 of the degree. You will examine the basic principles of banking, finance and economics, as well as other key business functions such as marketing, operations and human resource management. Following your foundation year, you will go on to study the same course content and modules as those on our Banking and Finance BSc (Hons) degree.
The course is designed with input from finance industry experts and draws on accounting, economics, investment theory, law and management to help you develop the skills you’ll need to begin a career in banking or the financial services.
You’ll have access to industry experts and the University’s Bloomberg Lab during your course. This will provide you with valuable insight into the banking and finance sector and allow you to work with real-world economic news, data and analytics in the classroom.
This banking and finance course shares its foundation year with a number of our other foundation year degrees, allowing you to work with students interested in other business-related subjects and share ideas.
If, following your foundation year, you decide that you’d like to specialise in an alternative business-related subject, we will give you the flexibility to allow this.
You’ll graduate with a full undergraduate degree with the same title and award as those who studied the traditional three-year course.
Methods of assessment on the course include individual and group presentations, coursework, mini-projects, placement employer assessments, in-class tests, and seen and unseen exams. You’ll also need to complete a final-year dissertation.
Where this course can take you
This course will equip you to take on a range of roles in the banking and finance industry – both in London and beyond. Our graduates have gone on to find employment in HSBC, JP Morgan, Barclays, Deloitte, Google and a wide range of other global organisations.
