During this course you’ll be able to take advantage of regular master classes. Taught by leading industry professionals, these classes allow you to further develop techniques and acquire a deep understanding of a range of dance styles. This also provides ample opportunity to network with professionals working in the field.
This programme has been created for those interested in a range of dance disciplines relating to performance. The programme focuses primarily on jazz technique and the commercial dance industry and is therefore aimed at those students keen to learn about the wider commercial dance sector. In particular it has been designed for students who have previously studied BTEC Dance or A levels and/or who have a wider engagement in dance in addition to their school education.
You’ll take key modules in strength and conditioning for dance as well as dance technique. We’ll also spend time working on entrepreneurship and enterprise. This will help you to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to go into the field as a self-employed professional, or launch your own dance related business.
The definition of performance can be wide and varied from performance on stage, to a development of performance through choreography, management, administration and teaching, as well as through the learning and assimilation of new skills and techniques.
The programme places emphasis on self- and career-management and market placement and equips students with business and employability skills to support either an employed or self-employed career path.
When you finish this degree you’ll have a variety of career prospects to explore. If you choose to pursue a career in performance, you may need to supplement this with employment in teaching, choreography or dance development. Having gained skills in entrepreneurship and enterprise, you’ll also have the skills necessary to be self-employed, or even launch your own dance related business venture.
