COURSE OVERVIEW
Birkbeck’s BA Human Geography gives you a deeper understanding of the complex processes that shape our contemporary social, political, economic and cultural life. It focuses on how we interact with each other and the environment, exploring the relationship between culture, identity, space and place, to appreciate the multiple connections between humans and the physical landscapes they inhabit.
In your first year, you will acquire key disciplinary skills. You can then tailor your degree to your interests by drawing from a range of modules that focus on key contemporary issues such as globalisation, identity, racism, nationalism, community and diaspora, the city and urban inequality, international development and poverty.
You will benefit from our mix of classroom and field-based teaching that brings together students from diverse backgrounds, to build social and professional networks and develop important research skills in data collection and analysis that you need for both academic research and in the workplace.
The BA Human Geography is available for full-time and part-time evening study over three or four years.
