COURSE OVERVIEW
Combine studying a modern language (French, German, Italian, Japanese or Spanish) and its associated culture with film and media studies. Gain a thorough grounding in different areas of media study and an understanding of the ways in which the media relate to each other. Develop a critical approach, so that you can put your own and others’ work in context. You will also have the opportunity to study a number of cross-cultural modules which will allow you to explore specific themes across a variety of language-speaking areas.
The third year is normally spent abroad at a partner institution to allow you to develop your language skills and your knowledge of the culture of the language-speaking area you are studying.
The programme is also available for full-time evening study over three years or for part-time evening study over four years or six years.
