On this Accounting and Finance course you will learn essential principles while developing the practical skills you need to succeed.
Our professionally qualified tutors all have industry experience, most of them with the Big Four accounting firms; with their guidance you will grow your understanding of current practices. As a team, we do everything we can for our students, but do not take our word for it. Since the student satisfaction ratings were first introduced, this course has frequently featured in the top ten accounting degrees in the country.
Alongside your specific professional abilities, we will encourage you to develop the transferable skills that will help you to stand out to potential employers. These include analytical, research and communication skills.

You will listen, learn, discuss and gain hands-on experience of how business and finance work through:
- lectures
- seminars
- tutorials
- workshops.
When you graduate, provided you have passed specific accredited optional modules at Level 6, you will be awarded up to nine exemptions from ACCA* and it is possible to become an ACCA-qualified accountant within two years of graduation.
*Eligibility for the ACCA exemptions would be conditional upon attempting and passing the relevant Level 5 plus Level 6 modules at UWL.

Accounting firms – especially large international ones – offer a wide range of career opportunities, including:
- auditing and assurance work
- corporate finance
- human resources
- insolvency
- IT consulting
- management consulting
- tax planning.
Most of our students go on to study for the ACCA examinations. When you graduate you will be awarded up to nine exemptions (no institution offers more) from ACCA and it is possible to become a qualified accountant within two years of graduation.
Alternatively, you could develop a related specialism or explore a new area on one of our postgraduate courses.
