COURSE OVERVIEW
Our BSc in Neurophysiology will give you the expert training you need to begin a rewarding, highly skilled career working in the healthcare profession, diagnosing and treating people with neurological disorders.
You will learn about the function of the nervous system and the conditions that affect it, such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and nerve and muscle dysfunction.
As you progress, you will develop the understanding and confidence to undertake specialist procedures in neurophysiology, combining your in-depth academic work with practical clinical skills in a range of specialised healthcare settings.
Neurophysiology is an exciting field that requires a high level of responsibility and problem-solving ability. As a neurophysiologist, you will frequently carry out investigations in dedicated environments or departments, such as intensive care settings and operating theatres, working with patients of all ages.

We are the only university in Wales to offer a BSc in Neurophysiology and our course is accredited by the National School of Healthcare Science.
Many of our academic staff are also practising healthcare scientists and active in research, providing an unrivalled combination of scientific rigour and professional expertise.
If you can commit to working in Wales for two years after graduating, you could get your tuition fees covered in full through the NHS Wales Bursary Scheme, as well as maintenance funding of up to £4,491 and a reduced rate loan from Student Finance.
YOUR NEUROPHYSIOLOGY EXPERIENCE
Our excellent facilities in the College of Human and Health Sciences include a realistic clinical suite so you can put your theoretical knowledge into practice in an environment that reflects as closely as possible the actual conditions that you will experience when you go on placement.
Half your course will be taught at our Singleton Park campus on the edge of the beautiful Gower Peninsula and the other half will take place in healthcare settings. We have very strong links with healthcare providers and Welsh health boards, opening up a wide range of clinical placement opportunities for you.
You will be joining a university that is in the UK top 5 for overall student satisfaction (NSS 2018) and the UK top 10 for graduate prospects (DLHE 2018).
NEUROPHYSIOLOGY CAREERS
There is currently a shortage of neurophysiologists in the UK, so job prospects are excellent. The NHS starting salary for Neurophysiologists is around £24,000, rising to £40,000.
There are also many opportunities to work in research, education, management, and the private sector.
Nearly 100 % of our Healthcare Sciences students go on to work in their chosen profession within six months of graduating (Destination of Leavers Survey,2018), and there are also excellent opportunities for further study to Master’s and doctoral level as your career progresses.
