This one-year fashion photography course explores the disciplines of fashion, photography, fashion film and multi-media production, providing you with both technical photography tuition and a thorough understanding of relevant academic contexts.
This one-year top-up programme is ideally suited to students who want to upgrade their existing qualifications (at HND level or equivalent) into a full honours degree. Students spend the year developing their practical and creative photography skills; studying fashion and photography academic theory; and improving their professional portfolio.
Students will learn a diverse range of skills, benefitting from access to professional photography, make-up and hair design studios. Solent University’s fashion photography programme also offers learners the opportunity to hone their IT, publication layout and design skills in our Mac suites. Available software packages include InDesign, Final Cut Pro and Photoshop.
The University’s strong ties with industry have offered students many opportunities to undertake work experience – working on live projects and client briefs for fashion industry partners. Recent students have enjoyed work placements at companies including Top Man, Fat Face, All Walks Beyond the Catwalk and Good Fibres.
The course places a strong emphasis on equipping students with the skills and knowledge required by employers. Previous graduates have gone on to work at renowned fashion companies including Karen Millen, Marks and Spencer, Coast and the London School of Modelling in roles such as creative media photographer, fashion stylist, visual stylist, production coordinator, model scout and booker.
