Do you have an eye for design? Passionate about interior decoration? As a member of the Society of British and International Design (SBID) – the accrediting organisation for the UK’s interior design industry – Solent University’s interior design decoration top-up programme offers a comprehensive education covering everything from textile design, interior styling, and materials to historical contexts, trendsetting and spatial design.
This intensive one year top-up programme is perfectly suited to students who already have a related qualification at HND level (or equivalent) and would like to upgrade to a full degree.
The course places a strong emphasis on gaining hands-on experience and students are encouraged to work on industry-led live projects. By leveraging the course team’s extensive industry links, past built environment students have had the opportunity to work on professional interior design projects.
Students on the interior design decoration course enjoy free access to specialist equipment and facilities. These include a digital fabric printer, digital laser cutter and industry-standard photographic studios. Students may also make use of large format scanners, printing equipment and Mac suites loaded with Vectorworks, Google SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
As well as gaining practical experience on work placements, past students have exhibited their work at important interior design events like New Designers in London. This enabled students to meet major retailers and other industry contacts.
