Solent’s music technology top-up course can help you to upgrade your existing qualification to a full degree in just one year. Progress from a diploma, foundation or equivalent course in music production, music technology or sound engineering. Learn new technical skills and improve your employability for a range of music industry roles.
Building on our long-standing reputation for excellence in music production, this top-up course offers a pathway into the more technical side of the music industry. You’ll focus on technical aspects of music and audio production while working on creative projects, helping you to graduate with the blend of hands-on and creative skills required by industry employers.
Throughout the course you’ll benefit from the expertise and experience of two separate School of Media Arts and Technology areas. Music production elements are delivered by the music programme group while technical units are delivered by expert audio engineering and acoustics tutors.
You will take a core module from audio engineering, acoustics and music production before choosing an optional module that targets particular career paths. This will help you to tailor the course to your specific career ambitions.
The final major project will allow you to apply your new skills to a substantial piece of work, blending creative and technical practice in an area that is relevant to your preferred career. This will allow movement between creative and technical pathways, enabling progression into the increasing number of roles that require an understanding of both.
