COURSE OVERVIEW
Immerse yourself in the literature, language, and culture of Wales and learn French with a year spent studying or working in France on this joint honours BA degree programme.
You will gain oral and written fluency, and grow in confidence in your use and understanding of the Welsh language.
You will study a wide range of Welsh language literature including plays, short stories, and novels, as well as poetry from the medieval bardic tradition to modern protest songs.
You will develop a keen understanding of Welsh language and grammar, linguistics, language planning policy, and learn valuable translation skills.
Alongside this, you will receive intensive French language tuition and study important aspects of literature, culture, and society in the French-speaking world.
Throughout your studies you will develop excellent research and analytical skills and learn to present your ideas effectively both verbally and in writing.

YOUR FRENCH AND WELSH EXPERIENCE
Our flexible degree structure with a range of optional modules gives you plenty of scope to tailor your studies to your particular interests, career goals, or ambitions for postgraduate study.
You will spend a year in France between your second and final year, broadening your skills and experience by studying, teaching at a school, or undertaking a work placement.
We can support you with arranging work placement opportunities in a wide range of settings, both in the UK and abroad.
