Do you have talent for visual design? Fascinated by the fashion industry? Our innovative fashion graphics degree combines academic study of fashion with practical design training to give you the technical skills and artistic grounding required to express ideas through graphic design.
This highly creative course encourages students to explore a range of graphic design techniques. Students are able to hone their design skills using Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, while at the same time being encouraged to develop a strong awareness of fashion industry practice, brand identity and interactive media.
To aid development of their creative skills, students have free access to our media academy. This facility includes Mac suites with the latest Adobe Creative software, photographic studios and large-format printers. Students will also have access to a Mimaki digital fabric printer.
The course syllabus is supplemented by a varied programme of lectures by visiting industry professionals. Students have recently benefitted from talks by Caryn Franklin (TV presenter and i-D editor); Alex Brownless (Artsthread); Hannah Wiltshire and Rachel Taylor (head designers of Fat Face); and Terry Mansfield (CEO, National Magazines).
Students on this course can also get involved in retail activities at Re:So, Solent’s stunning student-run store located in a busy shopping centre. Re:So sells a unique mix of fashion, accessories, publications, furniture and art produced by the University’s students and graduates.
