Solent University’s international air travel and tourism degree guides students as they develop a thorough understanding of the industry and the key roles within it. This includes study of how and why specific activities are undertaken at airports and in depth analysis of the contemporary issues currently affecting the global aviation and tourism industry.

These industry contacts are also involved in the delivery of the course, speaking at guest lectures and offering students improved access to site visits, case studies and live projects.
The course also has a strong focus on employability – students will develop transferable business and management skills that can be applied in a wide range of careers. Theory is reinforced through discussions with peers and industry experts, role play, simulations, problem solving and critiques – all with the direct support of the experienced course team.
Students have the opportunity to attend two field trips whilst studying, these provide an essential personal, experiential and practical environment for learning, and enable students to further hone skills taught in the classroom. Third year students may also choose to undertake an optional year-long work placement. The University has a dedicated placement office who can offer support with applications both before and after graduation.
