Are you fascinated by business? Could you help to lead growth within an organisation? Solent’s MSc Management programme can help you to improve both your management acumen and your employment prospects, furthering your understanding of employee development, management theory and strategic decision-making.
Solent’s MSc Management programme takes a thematic approach to learning – this is to best reflect the reality of business management. As a result, the curriculum focuses on three main themes across seven core units: personal management development, contemporary international management theory and management research.
Students begin the course by outlining their plan for continued professional development, working with the course team to ensure that learning takes place throughout their entire career. The personal management development unit also looks at the manager’s role in supporting the development of the people around them.
Academic management theory is also explored in depth. Students cover behavioural science as it relates to business leadership and examine some of the most important issues currently facing managers around the world.
The course concludes with a final master’s project, where students will carry out in-depth academic research into an area of management that interests them. This is a good opportunity to specialise knowledge towards individual career ambitions.
Students benefit from our relationship with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and are able to hold a student membership throughout their studies. Graduates will be in a good position to pursue further study and achieve Chartered Manager (CMgr) status. Students also graduate with a range of transferable skills. These include communication, presentation, research and analysis, teamwork, training, networking, coaching and mentoring.
Students work alongside experienced academics, researchers and business specialists, benefiting from their first-hand industry insights.
