With a strong focus on gaining hands-on experience and access to cutting-edge facilities you’ll research, shoot and edit using the latest professional broadcast equipment, while gaining the essential production experience to launch your media career.
Solent’s multi-million-pound media academy is a hub for creative students and boasts a comprehensive range of modern film and television production equipment, ranging from high-definition video cameras to DSLR full-frame cameras with a wide range of top-quality lenses and lighting kits. The University is also investing in 4K technology, which will enable students to enjoy professional-quality equipment.
Students on the television production degree can also enjoy free access to three high-definition TV studios, the largest of which seats an audience of 200 people and can run up to ten cameras. Those who want to hone their editing skills will find over 70 Mac workstations, all linked by a state-of-the-art fibre optic network. All machines run industry software Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro as standard, while specialist editors will have access to Avid.
To gain further practical experience students are encouraged to freelance at Solent Creatives, the University’s in-house creative agency, offering them unique opportunities to work on live client briefs to help develop their showreel.
