You will learn from skilled lecturers within the School of Aviation and Security who have a high level of working knowledge, based on industry experience. Their teaching will allow you to gain a deep insight into the latest trends and requirements of aviation and logistics.
As well as receiving top-class lectures and seminars, students are also supported by personal tutors, module leaders and course leaders. In addition, guest speakers often deliver sessions for students within the University to enrich their learning – these include experts from logistics companies and integrators involved in air transport, as well as aviation suppliers.

As a BNU student, you will automatically become a member of Bucks Students’ Union giving you access to a wide range of services that we offer for free. You’ll also be able to join the Aviation Society where you’ll have the ability to attend a variety events and experiences. Some examples of what we’ve done in the past include tours of NATS, a Boeing Flight Simulator experience at CAE and a tour at easyJet.

What will I study?
Throughout the course, you’ll complete a mix of aviation management and logistics modules.
You can choose to specialise in the passenger side of the business or in cargo, freight forwarding, supply chain management, construction logistics and more. You’ll also be able to immerse yourself in industry with our skills modules and industrial placement year.
We’ll challenge you to play our strategic supply chain game. You’ll make decisions, apply your understanding of logistics, then find out if your choices were correct. You’ll also have the chance to carry out field work on a trip. This might be exploring how an airline undergoes fleet selection, visiting a large distribution centre, or taking a behind-the-scenes tour of an international airport.
In your final year, you’ll apply everything you’ve learnt to your dissertation or business project. At this point, we’ll challenge you to think strategically and understand how the sector needs to move forward.
How will I be taught and assessed?
On this innovative degree programme students will be taught through a series of lectures, interactive seminars, masterclasses, live briefs, site visits, workshops, case studies and study trips.
You can also take part in industry-based projects using simulation and will have the opportunity to present work to a professional audience. Around 30% of study time will be spent in scheduled sessions on this course.
You will be assessed by a variety of means, such as oral presentations, portfolios, case studies, in-class tests, reports, essays and a smaller number of formal examinations. You are also assessed on your aptitude in the use of logistical planning and simulation techniques through the course.
The University also has a dedicated academic skills centre, Student Learning and Achievement,, which can provide additional support in areas such as presentations skills, time-management, academic reading, referencing or academic writing, research for essay preparation and how to prepare effectively for examinations in addition to being assigned a personal tutor from the academic team.
