This health and social care management degree provides the foundation for a variety of careers in the health and social care sector, from working with individuals to managing people. Year Three: Health and Social Care Degree
- Introduction to Disaster Healthcare – 20 credits (optional)
- Reducing Population Health Inequalities – 20 credits (optional)
- Project Module – 20 credits (optional)
- Contemporary Issues in Health and Social Care – 20 credits
- Leading and Managing Change in Health and Social Care – 20 credits
- Leadership, Management and Co-ordination in Health and Social Care – 20 credits
- Professional Development in Health and Social Care – 20 credits (requires satisfactory DBS check)
- Train the Trainer (Health and Social Care) – 20 credits (optional)
The BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care Management is also available as a four year course including an integrated Foundation Year, and is designed for students who do not currently meet admissions criteria for direct entry onto the degree. You will start by completing a foundation year, which provides well-structured support, allowing you to develop your skills and knowledge before continuing onto the three year degree programme. USW’s Health and Social Care course has the unique Solferino Prize for Humanitarian Studies which is open to any third year student who takes the Introduction to Disaster Healthcare module.
Assessment
Assessment methods replicate those activities required in the workplace such as report writing, presentations, developing leaflets, reflective writing, portfolio of practice, analysing care plans, reviewing the literature, analysing complex cases and managing change.
