Our supportive course team tailor the content to ensure a more hands on/practical aspect to this course teaching you the different types of intelligence and skills needed to be effective in your future career.
The course covers a wide range of intelligence-related subject areas, or domains, and links them to an understanding of the all-important need for intelligence to be an embedded, rather than distinct organisational function.

Our library is the perfect place to find the resources you need and a quiet place to study, filled with four floors of books, journals, computer suites and study rooms. Or, if you’d rather work off campus, e-Journals and resources are only a few clicks away using our Virtual Learning Environment.
How will I be taught and assessed?
This course is offered as a four-year programme, including an initial Foundation Year. The Foundation Year will allow you to develop your academic study skills and build confidence in your abilities, identifying your own strengths and development needs for progression onto an undergraduate degree.
Our staff are focused on your development and helping you to succeed academically. Alongside their academic qualifications, our supportive course team have strong industry, military and government experience.

Through the lectures and seminars, we always draw the learning back to your development of professional skills required for your future employment.
You will also have one-to-one tutorials and focused teaching, where you can delve deeper into the topics and enhance your learning.
You will be assessed in a way that mirrors the requirements of employment as an intelligence analyst.
There are no formal examinations on the course. Instead, assessment is conducted by assignment tasks, including class-based exercises where questions are set as ‘intelligence customer requirements’ to match the real-world working environment. Essays are designed to replicate intelligence analysis reports or ‘products’ whilst presentations are pitched as the presentation of analysis to line managers in the workplace.
You will have a lot of freedom in how you interpret assignments, so you can tailor your research to your interests.
Career portfolio development runs alongside your academic studies and is used to convert your learning experiences and assessments into examples you can showcase on your applications for future jobs.
