Overview
This part-time course is designed for those who wish to pursue their career and interests in leadership and management. Focused and pragmatic, the PgCert, PgDip and MA are all designed to offer a variety of support and are targeted at managers at all stages of their career.
The course aims to develop both the intellectual frameworks and practical skills managers and leaders need to operate in dynamic and complex work environments. In doing so, it aims to build an understanding of the nature of organizations and the external context within which leaders and managers operate.
The full programme is completed over two years. However experienced managers or those with previous qualifications may also be eligible to complete the course over a shorter period. Course information
This part-time course has been designed for those who wish to pursue their career and research interests in leadership and management. The course is designed with the professional leader in mind and assessments generally focus on strategic workplace issues. Students may also choose to graduate after successfully completing two semesters of study (PgCert) or four semesters of study (PgDip) however the MA, studied over a total of six semesters, forms the apex of our suite of leadership and management programmes.
All modules on the course are mandatory, and cover topics such as the theory behind leadership and management, how to lead and manage strategically, and the personal skills required to become an effective and dynamic leader.
How you’ll be taught
Learning is designed to fit around the demands of working life, with teaching typically occurring over five Fridays per semester, with additional support online. As part of the MA course, you will be expected to study part-time for 6 semesters over two years, while for the PgDip you will be expected to study part-time for 4 semester over two years, and for the PgCert study part-time for 2 semesters over one year. The programme is run on an accelerated basis and upon successful completion the full Masters qualification can be achieved over two years. Furthermore, experienced managers and those with previous experience may be able to join at a later stage. Dedicated supervisory support is also offered to students completing their dissertation in the final year of the programme.
