Quantity Surveying


The MSc Quantity Surveying course is for graduates with a minimum of three years’ professional experience or a qualification in a closely related discipline.

The Graduate Diploma Quantity Surveying course is for students with a first degree in an unrelated subject seeking to convert to a career as a Quantity Surveyor. Successful completion of the Graduate Diploma allows advanced entry onto the Masters course requiring only submission of the dissertation to complete your studies.



Learn flexibly


Both courses are for those who aspire to become Chartered members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The courses are designed to offer varied and flexible patterns of study, so you can fit studies and experience around your personal and professional commitments. They reflect and address the needs of professional practice and help you develop the skills and knowledge to become an effective professional surveyor in the construction industry. You’ll cover construction technology, measurement, law, economics, procurement and contract management.

You can follow the RICS accredited route as a Quantity Surveyor or the Graduate Diploma route. The courses are academically challenging, and encourage independent, analytical and reflective thought and judgement that applies equally to the workplace and professional ethics.

Public Health


Public health refers to all organised measures to promote and improve health, protect the health of populations, prevent disease, reduce inequalities and tackle the root causes of ill-health in global and local contexts.

UWE Bristol’s MSc Public Health is structured around an interdisciplinary curriculum, drawing upon the social, human and life sciences to develop students’ intellectual and investigative skills. Through studying a wide range of intersecting disciplines, you’ll meet the professional competences for employment in the field of public health.

This course prepares graduates for employment in public health at all levels, spanning health protection, disease surveillance, epidemiology, health promotion, community development and public health leadership.

Occupational Psychology applies psychological understanding to workplace, business and organisational issues, and is one of the key applied fields of psychology. The MSc Occupational Psychology at UWE Bristol is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), covering Stage-1 training for Occupational Psychology. The course has been designed to reflect the most up-to-date BPS guidelines and has been developed in conjunction with the British Psychological Society’s Division of Occupational Psychology.

Careers / Further study


The MSc Occupational Psychology is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as Stage-1 training in Occupational Psychology, the first step in training to become a Practitioner Occupational Psychologist. The BPS criteria takes into account the applicability of knowledge and skills, and graduate employability, which are key strengths for UWE Bristol.

Nuclear Medicine


This flexible and student-centred choice of routes gives healthcare professionals currently involved in Nuclear Medicine practice the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills and understanding of this rapidly evolving subject and its application.


Develop clinical expertise through practice and research


This course provides the educational and research foundations required to evaluate current working practice and understand the opportunities currently available in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging environments. As a result, peer learning is a big part of this course’s value to individuals and employers. In addition to developing skills directly linked to clinical practice, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the nuclear medicine knowledge base through research and publication.

This course is designed in conjunction with a number of clinical experts, and our partnership with clinical software provider Hermes Medical Solutions. This means it produces competent and professional practitioners with the skills needed to optimise and promote this imaging modality in current models of patient care.

Music Therapy


This unique three-year part-time Master’s course can lead to registration as a music therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). It also provides a popular route for international students looking to develop their qualifications.

It is open to capable musicians – from recent graduates to experienced professionals, or to music therapists with a postgraduate diploma looking to add to their skills and knowledge who can access a progression route. Even if you don’t have a first degree in music, we still encourage you to apply provided you can demonstrate a capacity to write and think at Master’s level. All candidates will need an intuitive and communicative musical presence on at least one instrument or voice, plus the ability to provide harmonic support using, for example, piano, keyboard or guitar.



Widely applicable and sought-after skills


There is an underlying humanistic and music-centred philosophy to the course, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning. We take a ‚lifespan’ approach, focusing on children and adolescents in the first year, and adults in the second year. In the third year, we focus on more complex areas of work, with both children and adults, such as work in palliative care or the prison and probation services.

The course equips you with the clinical, theoretical and practical skills required to enter the music therapy profession. Successful graduates will be able to work in the NHS, education, social services, for the voluntary sector, charities, within prisons, or set up their own practice.

The part-time, flexible nature of the course means you can fit Master’s level studies around paid employment, and build or enhance your career in the process.

Course tutors, and teaching and research staff from across the department have excellent links with healthcare, community and education providers, and we regularly welcome visiting lecturers from these areas.

MA Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking at UWE Bristol is best known for its experimental, forward-thinking approach to printmaking today and the future of the printed artefact. Medical Ultrasound


This course provides an opportunity for health care practitioners to achieve a recognised qualification in obstetrics, gynaecological, vascular, general medical ultrasound, breast and musculosketetal, supported by a combination of structured clinical experience and academic study.

The course is designed to produce clinically competent advanced practitioners, who will be able to meet the needs of the service in a changing health care environment.

The course was planned in full consultation with a wide range of relevant professionals from the South West region, who are experts in the field of diagnostic ultrasound or associated clinical specialisms. These experts are instrumental in the delivery of the course, along with experienced educationalists from within the University.
